The University of Iowa will mark five years since the 2008 floods with public events in communities across Iowa.
Many of the events are part of the Living with Floods project, a collaboration between university units and partner communities Cedar Rapids, Council Bluffs, Davenport, Des Moines, Dubuque, Iowa City, and Muscatine. Highlights include local forums in participating communities and free outdoor performances by the Preservation Hall Jazz Band, sponsored by Hancher.
Additional events include a June 14 celebration thanking campus, state, and federal partners for help with the university's rebuilding and kicking off work on new facilities for Hancher, the School of Music, and the School of Art and Art History.
