Wednesday, May 29, 2013

The University of Iowa started efforts on Tuesday to prepare for possible rising waters along campus. Crews are installing HESCO flood barriers at Mayflower Residence Hall along Dubuque Street, filling the 4-foot square containers with sand.

Flood preventative measures are also taking place at Art Building West with construction of an "invisible wall."

Later in the day Tuesday, Rod Lehnertz from Facilities Management, Larry Weber from the Iowa Flood Center, and Mark Braun, interim vice president for strategic communication, met with the media to give a briefing of the day's activities.
