Get in the Carnaval spirit at the next University of Iowa Museum of Art (UIMA) First Friday on June 7 from 5-7 p.m. Domby , located at 128 E. Washington St., will host the celebration with light refreshments and traditional, handmade Carnaval costumes will be on display for guests to enjoy.

Two Carnaval costumes from the UIMA Education Collection will displayed in the Domby windows from May 29-June 16. One costume was made by Clary Salandy, London-based carnaval artist, theatre designer, and three-dimensional design tutor specializing in large scale body sculptures. The other was made by architect and interior designer Jaime Cezário, who is one of the most famous Brazilian Carnavalescos in Rio de Janeiro.

This costume display is part of the larger Iowa City Carnaval celebration, which will culminate in a city-wide parade on June 9.
