The University of Iowa Mock Trial (UIMT) team sent two teams to compete in St. Louis in the American Mock Trial Association’s Opening Round Championship March 15-17.

After a grueling three-day tournament, UIMT earned a bid to the national championship in Washington, D.C. Team 1479, captained by senior Katy Kinney and junior Edward Rodriguez, went 5-2-1 picking up wins over Washburn University, Drake University, and Loras College. Senior Megan Sherburne also picked up an award as an outstanding witness for her performance over the weekend.

The national championship takes place April 12-14. It will be the first time UIMT has made it to the tournament in three years.
