As U.S. companies increasingly face global competition, the need for a workforce skilled in science, technology, engineering, and mathematics (STEM) has never been greater. A University of Iowa Alumni Association (UIAA) networking event will show how the UI College of Engineering is preparing its students to meet such challenges.

Held at the Sheraton Iowa City Hotel, 210 S. Dubuque St., Iowa City, Friday May 10, from 4 to 6 p.m., the open house and networking reception is free and open to the public. Hors d'oeuvres and beverages will be provided.

Fifteen senior design projects from the UI College of Engineering’s electrical and computer engineering department will be on display, accompanied by faculty and students who will explain their projects. Additionally, robotics teams from local high schools will exhibit their latest inventions, providing demonstrations and answering questions.
