Macbride Nature Recreation Area program designed for first through sixth graders
Monday, February 4, 2013

Recreational Services will sponsor Chickadee Camp, a wildlife and activity program for first through sixth graders at Macbride Nature Recreation Area over spring break, March 18-22.

The fee for the program is $200, and scholarships are available for children of UI faculty, staff, and students who qualify. Call 319-335-1371 or email familyservices@uiowa.edu for more information.

The youth camp will provide unique opportunities to study and observe wildlife of the prairies, wetlands, and woodlands of Macbride in a late winter setting.

Small groups of campers will participate in educationally designed recreational activities led by professional staff, which may include swimming, climbing, mapping, prairie and pond study, maple syruping, bird-banding, eagle watching, geology, wilderness survival techniques, and more. Students also will receive a long-sleeved “Chickadee Camp” t-shirt.

To register, complete a form available online and pay a $75 deposit. Mail the registration form and payment after Feb. 1 to:

After your registration form is received, a confirmation letter, health form, and general camp information will be mailed. Each camper must have his or her own registration form, medical release, and deposit.
