A record number of companies, agencies, and organizations seeking talented graduates for full-time employment and current students for co-op and internship positions will participate in the Feb. 5 College of Engineering Career Fair.

More than 70 employers from Iowa and many other U.S. locations will staff their exhibits from 2-6 p.m. in the Main Lounge of the Iowa Memorial Union. More than 700 students are expected to attend the fair.

An indicator that firms and agencies are increasing their staffing in areas of engineering, technology, and science to meet expansion objectives in a broad cross-section of industries, the Spring Engineering Career Fair at the UI has consistently grown in recent years.

Based on employer projections, positions are available in every engineering major in which the college specializes—biomedical, chemical and biochemical, civil and environmental, electrical and computer, and mechanical and industrial. The fair also is open to UI students who major in computer science.

Engineering student and university organizations also will have a presence at the fair to gain greater exposure among students. They include the UI Alumni Association, Engineering Student Council, Institute of Industrial Engineers, Society of Women Engineers, Study Abroad and International Programs, and Women in Science and Engineering.
