In 2008, Dailey & Vincent burst onto the bluegrass scene in a big way. The group took home seven awards at that year’s International Bluegrass Music Awards Show, including “Album of the Year” and “Entertainer of Year”—the latter of which the band has now collected multiple times.

The University of Iowa’s Hancher will present the six-piece band on Saturday, Feb. 16 at 7:30 p.m. at the Englert Theatre.

The band is made up of top-tier musicians—or “pickers” in the music’s parlance. Jamie Dailey plays guitar and bass and sings lead and harmony vocals. Darrin Vincent performs on mandolin, bass, and guitar and sings lead and harmony vocals. The band also includes fiddler BJ Cherryholmes of the well-known bluegrass band Cherryholmes. The ensemble is rounded out by Christian Davis (guitar, bass vocals), Jessie Baker (banjo), and Jeff Parker (mandolin, guitar, harmony vocals).

The band’s sound is firmly grounded in the traditions of bluegrass music, but the group is also committed to moving the music forward. The band’s busy touring schedule has won a loyal fan base, as have performances at the Grand Ole Opry, on A Prairie Home Companion, and at MerleFest.

The performance by Dailey & Vincent is supported by the Hancher Partners and gifts to Hancher Circle through the UI Foundation.
