Experience the music of Steel Bands II and III, then go see the show
Wednesday, December 5, 2012

Steel Bands II and III, student ensembles in the University of Iowa School of Music, will present a free concert at 6 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 6, in Room 150 of Music West Interim Building on the UI campus.

The ensembles will showcase the new music they've learned this semester—island classics, pop music, and perhaps some holiday classics.

Steel Band II and III are open to any UI student who can read music. These groups also serve as training bands for the PanAmerican Steel Band, arguably the most recognized percussion group on campus. Music therapy and music education students play in these bands as a way to improve their rhythmic understanding and sense of groove.

The School of Music is part of the Division of Performing Arts in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences. For accommodations at the concert contact the School of Music at 319-335-1603. For a UI arts calendar and details about upcoming events visit the new Arts Iowa website.
