The University of Iowa Mock Trial (UIMT) team competed in a tournament at Macalester College in St. Paul, Minn., Nov. 2-4. In a field of 17 teams from various colleges and universities, UIMT placed four teams in the top 10.

Team 1481, captained by senior Alyssa Carlson, placed 10th. Team 1481 went 4-2-2 for the tournament, picking up wins over Grinnell College, the University of Minnesota, and Drake. Team 1479, captained by senior Katy Kinney, went 5-3 and placed 9th. The team took wins over Iowa State, Hamline University, and the University of Minnesota-Duluth. UIMT President and junior Edward Rodriguez captained team 1482 to a 6-2 record and 5th place finish, defeating teams from Hamline University, Grinnell College, and the University of Minnesota. Finishing 2nd with a 7-1 record was team 1480 captained by senior Jacob Bogolia. This team beat Luther, Carlton College, Drake, and St. Olaf.

UIMT also brought home several individual awards. Receiving 18 ranks as an attorney were sophomore Kimmy Depalma, Rodriguez, and Bogolia. Two attorneys from the UI, seniors Megan Sherburne and James Adams, received perfect 20 ranks. These four individual awards bring the season total to 15 for UIMT in just three tournaments. UIMT has also brought home eight team awards from those tournaments.
