other kinds book cover

Dylan Nice, alumnus of the University of Iowa Nonfiction Writing Program and adjunct lecturer, will read from his collection of short stories, Other Kinds, at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 28, in a free reading at Prairie Lights Books in downtown Iowa City. The reading also will be streamed live on the University of Iowa Writing University website.

Publishers Weekly says of Other Kinds, “In the nine short, satisfying stories of this fluid debut collection from Nice, strained moments of intimacy and misunderstandings appear along with the clipped prose, which is at times lyrical and, at others, sobering and stark.”

Nice's stories and essays have appeared in NOON, Indiana Review, MAKE, Hobart, Brevity, and Quick Fiction.

The Nonfiction Writing Program is a graduate program in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
