Penn State game features sea of black and gold

It started out with a bang as the Hawkeye football team took the field amid fireworks for the 2012 season's only night game at Kinnick Stadium.

But for Hawkeye fans, the evening ended in disappointment, a 38-14 loss to Penn State.

Saturday, Oct. 20 also marked the Black and Gold Spirit Game, one of several official "color games" peppered throughout the season. Fan's wore black or gold according to section, striping the stadium.

The night was also the second America Needs Farmers (ANF) game in as many years. To mark the occasion, the Hawkeyes selected former player Casey Wiegmann as the first name to appear on the ANF Wall of Honor in Kinnick's northwest corner.
