President Barack Obama, Vice President Joe Biden, first lady Michelle Obama, and Jill Biden will visit the University of Iowa campus Friday, Sept. 7, for a campaign event on the university’s Pentacrest.

The event will be held on the lawn north of the Old Capitol between Jessup and Macbride halls. Free tickets will be distributed in advance.
Ticket holders will be admitted to the area starting around 1 p.m. Friday, with the president’s remarks slated for later in the day.
Event access
The event is free and open to the public, but tickets will be required for entry. See the Obama campaign site for ticket information.
Attendees will enter the area from the north end of the T. Anne Cleary Walkway at Market Street after passing through airport-like security screening on Market. It is important to arrive early in order to pass through security.
Cameras and cell phones are permitted. Please limit personal belongings. Do not bring liquids, big bags, umbrellas, or sharp objects. Water will be provided at the event.
A designated protest area has been established at Hubbard Park near the Iowa Memorial Union.
ADA access
An accessible entrance for people with disabilities will be located near the corner of Clinton and Jefferson streets. Attendees may be dropped off at this corner.
Parking and transportation
Event attendees may use public parking facilities throughout downtown Iowa City and the central UI campus (see options and maps). Nearby parking is limited—please carpool when possible.
Additional parking is available at the Johnson County Fairgrounds, 4265 Oak Crest Hill Road in southeast Iowa City. Shuttle transportation will be available from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m., resuming immediately following the event.

Buildings and streets affected by the event
For setup and safety reasons, access to various UI facilities and Iowa City streets will be limited on Thursday, Sept. 6, and Friday, Sept. 7.
Affected buildings included the Old Capitol, Jessup Hall, and Macbride Hall, which will be closed all day Friday. Portions of Market Street, Jefferson Street, Clinton Street, and Iowa Avenue also will be closed much of Friday.
