Law professor and president emeritus Sandy Boyd was recently honored by the Eighth Circuit Bar Association for his work and career successes. Boyd received the Richard S. Arnold Award for Distinguished Service and Lifetime Achievement, which is presented to an attorney from each state in the circuit who is nominated by a federal judge.

Boyd was on the faculty of the College of Law from 1954 to 1982, and was president of the university from 1969 to 1981. He left to become director of the Field Museum of Natural History in Chicago, returning to the law school faculty in 1996 and founding the Larned A. Waterman Iowa Nonprofit Resource Center. He continues to teach courses in nonprofit law and management. Boyd was honored at the Eighth Circuit Judicial Conference Aug. 9 in Kansas City.
