If you’ve ever wanted to get inside someone’s head, here’s your chance. MEGABrain, the world’s only inflatable, walk-through brain exhibit, is coming to Coral Ridge Mall in Coralville on Friday, August 3 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. The event is free and open to the public.

Visitors enter the exhibit through the frontal lobe, the area of the brain responsible for personality and higher cognitive functions, and exit through the cerebellum, the portion that controls balance and coordination.

The MEGABrain provides a highly interactive educational experience that increases people’s awareness of the central nervous system's most critical organ. Visitors can step inside the brain, learn about the various structures and normal brain function, observe examples of brain trauma and disease, and view displays explaining some of the latest neurological medical treatments.

“The human brain is the most complex organ ever,” says Harold Adams, MD, professor of neurology at University of Iowa Health Care. “This outstanding exhibit enables visitors to walk through a model of the brain and to learn about the physiology, structure, and diseases that affect it.”

Among the conditions that can affect the brain are stroke, headaches, Alzheimer’s disease, brain tumors, aneurysms, epilepsy, traumatic brain injury, and more.

The exhibit’s current tour is sponsored by Refresh and Retreat Stroke Camp through a grant from Genentech, Inc. Local presentation of the MEGABrain is sponsored by University of Iowa Health Care, St. Luke’s Hospital, and Mercy Medical Center in Cedar Rapids.
