Where can you find hundreds of recordings of writers like Alice Sebold, David Sedaris, Francine Prose, and Sherman Alexie?

On the Iowa Digital Library’s Virtual Writing University Archive.

The archive, a joint project by the University of Iowa’s writing programs and the School of Library and Information Science, features an extensive audio and video library of readings from emerging and renowned writers who have appeared in Iowa City.

The collection documents the history of writing at the University of Iowa and the surrounding community, and it is continuously updated with recordings from local readings.

There are currently more than 2,000 items in the collection. Some date back to the 1960s and '70s.

Recordings are searchable by author, by date, and by series.
