The University of Iowa Museum of Natural History wraps up its "Movies@MNH" series at 2 p.m., Sunday, May 6, with the free public screening of Fly Away Home in Macbride Auditorium.

The film follows 13-year-old Amy Alden (Anna Paquin), who survives a New Zealand car crash that kills her mother. She goes to Canada to live with her father, Thomas Alden (Jeff Daniels), an eccentric inventor she barely knows, and his girlfriend Susan (Dana Delaney).

Amy is miserable until she discovers a nest of goose eggs abandoned when developers tear up a local forest. She helps the eggs hatch but when the young birds must fly south for the winter, they have no parents to lead them. With a pair of ultra-light airplanes, Amy, Thomas, Susan, and their friends must find a way to do it while avoiding the game warden.

According to Wikipedia, the story is based on the actual experiences of Bill Lishman, a Canadian inventor and artist.
