Iowa artist Barbara Fedeler will lead a gallery talk Thursday, April 26, at 6:30 p.m. in the Hanson Family Humanities Gallery at the University of Iowa Old Capitol Museum. The talk is offered in conjunction with the exhibit “Art Iowa: Inspired by Landscape,” which is now on display at the museum’s Hanson Family Humanities Gallery.

The talk is free and open to the public. Light refreshments will be served.

Fedeler holds a Master of Fine Arts degree from the University of Arizona and a Bachelor of Fine Arts from Drake University, Des Moines. She also studied at Scuola Lorenzo de' Medici in Florence, Italy, and currently serves as a lecturer in art at Wartburg College in Waverly. She will address the sources of her imagery and her artistic process. She will also conduct a demonstration of how she uses her materials.

The collaborative exhibit “Art Iowa: Inspired by Landscape” displays works of art from the Meskwaki people of Iowa, Grant Wood, the iconic regionalist painter of American Gothic; and works from contemporary Iowa artists featured on the University of Iowa’s Daily Palette. The Daily Palette was started by the Experimental Writing Wing at the UI.
