The University of Iowa College of Engineering’s Center for Computer Aided Design (CCAD) will host an open house at three different research sites and on three different days in May.

The dates, facilities, and locations are:

• Tuesday, May 1, from 3 to 6 p.m., Engineering Research Facility, Court and Madison streets, Iowa City.
• Thursday, May 3, from 3 to 6 p.m., Operator Performance Laboratory, Iowa City Municipal Airport, Iowa City.
• Wednesday, May 9, from 3 to 6 p.m., National Advanced Driving Simulator, 2401 Oakdale Blvd., Coralville, Iowa.

Each open house will include hors d’oeuvres and a brief 4 p.m. talk given by Karim Abdel-Malek, director of CCAD and the Virtual Soldier Research division.

Visitors will have an opportunity to meet the CCAD director, division directors, faculty members, and researchers to discuss their research, as well as tour laboratories and other facilities.

The event is intended to raise awareness among local government officials, legislators, business leaders, UI faculty and staff, and others about the valuable resource CCAD represents for government, education, and industry. CCAD presenters will discuss research partnerships with government and industry and tell how CCAD research creates jobs, conserves money, and saves lives.
