Larson and Shindelman are visiting artists in photography

Nate Larson and Marni Shindelman, visiting artists in the photography area of the School of Art and Art History, will speak on Geolocation: Tributes to the Data Stream at 6:30 p.m. Thursday, April 19, in E105 of the Adler Journalism Building on the University of Iowa campus.

Their collaborative work focuses on the cultural understanding of distance as perceived in modern life and network culture. Their projects were recently featured in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Utne Reader, Flavorwire, Frieze Magazine, the British Journal of Photography, the BBC News Viewfinder, and the APM radio program Marketplace Tech Report.

Their projects have also been shown in the United States, Poland, Greece, Russia, Canada, and Australia, and their work is in the permanent collection of the Museum of Fine Arts Houston.

Larson is a faculty member at the Maryland Institute College of Art in Baltimore and serves on the board of directors for the Society for Photographic Education. Shindelman teaches at the Susan B. Anthony Institute for Gender and Women's Studies at the University of Rochester.
