The Drawing Salon focuses on drawing artworks from the museum's collection. Each session will focus on a different artwork. The sessions will begin with an introduction and discussion of the selected work. Participants will be encouraged to pursue their own visions and to take inspiration from the artworks in the gallery. Come to Filmscene for a screening of the Common Ground documentary on Wednesday, May 22. Common Ground details the money, power, and politics behind our broken food system. After the film, a panel discussion will be held with Iowa Valley RC&D Executive Director Jason Grimm, IIHR's own Kate Giannini, Natasha Wilson from West Fork Farmstead, and Tommy Hexter from the Iowa Farmer's Union. The event is a pay-what-you-can admission with a suggested price of $10 per person, with proceeds directly supporting the Grow program.

Graduation Herky—which was part of the 2014 iteration of the community’s Herky on Parade public art project—has become one of the most iconic figures on the University of Iowa campus. This year, 23 new Herky statues have been placed across campus as part of the 2024 rendition of Herky on Parade.
