Melissa Shivers to begin in June
The University of Iowa has named Melissa Shivers the next vice president for student life. Shivers has 20 years of experience serving students and is currently associate vice chancellor for student life and dean of students at the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, a role she has held since June 2014.

During construction on Catlett Residence Hall about 10 a.m. Wednesday, a gas line was hit resulting in a gas leak. Catlett Residence Hall is a new building, currently under construction, and is not occupied by students.

The VP for Student Life Search Committee has announced the dates of the four final candidates’ public forums. Taking place the week of May 1, the forums will consist of a presentation by the candidate followed by a brief Q&A. All faculty, staff, and students are encouraged to attend.
