University of Iowa photographers select favorite photos from 2016
Photographers in the University of Iowa’s Office of Strategic Communication submitted a gallery of some of their favorite work from 2016.
The 2016 corn monument includes a mural based on the first picture of Herky drawn by a UI alumnus in 1948. Coincidentally, the drawing also featured Northwestern, who the Hawkeyes will play in their Homecoming game Oct. 1.

Spacecraft with UI instrument makes closest Earth encounter Oct. 9
NASA’s Juno spacecraft will be passing within some 350 miles of Earth’s surface Oct. 9 before it slingshots off into space on a historic exploration of Jupiter. University of Iowa planetary scientist Bill Kurth has been involved with the mission since the beginning and is one of the lead investigators on the Waves instrument aboard the craft.

Old Capitol welcomes Herky Graduation tour

The University of Iowa Old Capitol Museum is welcoming Herky and his buddies for the 2013 Herky Graduation Tour. The temporary exhibit will be at Old Capitol this April through August.
