Over the next two weeks University of Iowa workers and contractors will begin removing HESCO barriers along the banks of the Iowa River through campus and work to reopen the Beckwith Boathouse, Art Building West, and Mayflower Residence Hall.
UI officials say Mayflower will be ready in time for student move-in ahead of the fall 2014 semester.
Additionally, because of favorable weather conditions, the City of Iowa City has reopened North Dubuque Street between Foster Road and Park Road to one lane of traffic in each direction.
The university continues to maintain and monitor flood protection measures, and the public is cautioned to stay away from barriers and equipment used to remove them.
