Faculty—
Sandra McGee, University of Iowa visiting assistant professor in the School of Social Work, was named the 2013 Social Worker of the Year for her accomplishments and dedication to the field of social work.
McGee will also receive the 2013 Iowa Juneteenth Observance James Derham Health Practitioner of the Year Award for demonstrating a considerable amount of community service.
Sara Sanders, associate professor of gerontology and end-of-life in the UI School of Social Work, was appointed to the Statewide Elder Abuse Taskforce for 2013.
Sanders was also appointed to the 5C Judicial Nominating Magistrate Appointing Commission by the Polk County Board of Supervisors for a six year term.
Arthur Bonfield, professor in the College of Law, has been named a recipient of the Friends of the First Amendment award.
Bonfield is being recognized for his work in reforming the Iowa open meetings and records laws. He received the award at the Council’s Celebrating a Free Press and Open Government dinner Oct. 3.
