She will direct "She Stoops to Conquer," the final production of the 2012-2013 University Theatres Mainstage season; the show opens April 19 in E.C. Mabie Theatre. Story

Cristina Ortiz grew up as part of the lone Latino family in Leon, Iowa. The UI anthropology graduate student now lives in Columbus Junction, Iowa, and is researching the growing Chin Burmese refugee population that lives in this community. She will present her research Friday, April 5 as part of a panel presentation during the Refugees in the Heartland Provost's Global Forum. Story

Students to perform 'Music Through the Centuries'

The University of Iowa School of Music will present “Music Through the Centuries,” a free concert of music for organ, harpsichord, and voice, at 3 p.m. Saturday, April 13, in Riverside Recital Hall on the UI campus. Students will sing a variety of solo vocal music from composers Monteverdi, Purcell, Handel, Bach, Boulanger, Faure, and Davidson. Story

Hancher to co-present Mucca Pazza during Mission Creek Festival

The unique band will perform at 8 p.m. Saturday, April 6, at The Englert Theatre, brining a unique sensibility to the stage—and beyond the stage—with a marching band meets rock band vibe. Story
