Top high-school musicians from throughout the Midwest and other parts of the United States are converging on the University of Iowa for the 2013 Iowa Summer Music Camps. The camps, which run June 9-28, will include nine free concerts. Story

The University of Iowa School of Music will present a free alumna recital by soprano Emily Truckenbrod at 7:30 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 24, in the University Capitol Centre recital hall. Truckenbrod, accompanied by Linda Perry on piano, will perform works by George Frideric Handel and Richard Strauss, among others. Story

Dance department presents faculty/grad concerts

The University of Iowa Department of Dance will present a faculty/graduate concert at 8 p.m. Thursday-Saturday, Feb. 21-23, in Space Place Theater in North Hall. The program will feature world premiere pieces from UI faculty and student choreographers. UI dance students will perform the works. Story

Mark Bernat has long wanted to perform the six cello suites by Johann Sebastian Bach in one marathon concert, only on Bernat’s instrument of choice, the double bass. In 2013, the performing arts coordinator for UIHC's Project Art will have the opportunity to play Bach back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back-to-back. Story
