Fifty years ago, Rachel Carson published "Silent Spring," a book about pesticide damage to the environment. In recognition of the Iowa connection to this book, a UI symposium will be presented, “My Friend Rachel Carson: Shirley Briggs and the Iowa Connection to Silent Spring,” along with an exhibition opening.
