Festival provides sneak peek at future of theater

The University of Iowa Department of Theatre Arts will present the 2013 Iowa New Play Festival, the most ambitious new-play festival in collegiate theater, with readings and staged productions May 5–11 in the UI Theatre Building. The full productions of new scripts from the Iowa Playwrights Workshop will be presented at 5:30 and 9 p.m. May 5, 6, 8, 9, and 11. Story

Artist illness prompts cancellation of Hughes workshop, performance

UI Theatre is sorry to announce that the Holly Hughes Gay Marriage Performance Workshop (April 2-5) and the Holly Hughes performance (April 6) have been cancelled due to the artist’s illness. UI Theatre plans to reschedule the workshop and performance during the 2013-2014 season. Story

Theatre arts honor students to present thesis projects

"Puddin’," written and developed by Bethany Jackson, and "Spot’s Community," written and directed by Taylor Cook, will be presented together on March 27 and 29. Jacob Schiller and Emilia Hodges will collaborate on "Lungs," by British playwright Duncan Macmillan; it will be presented March 28 and 30. All shows are free and open to the public. Story
