Dancers in Company, the University of Iowa Department of Dance's resident touring company, is traveling throughout Iowa and the Midwest this spring, performing live concerts and lecture demonstrations for audiences of all ages. The University of Iowa Museum of Art has paired with Iowa City Carnaval to put together a free public event to be held on Saturday, April 20 in North Hall, Room B1, on the UI campus. Story
UI professor Armando Duarte, a choreographer at the UI since 1993, was inspired to create a three-week study abroad program in his native Brazil to share the culture of Carnival with UI students. He is currently in Brazil with 20 UI students so they can study the unique culture firsthand.

UI Department of Dance faculty member Rebekah Kowal was honored for her book, "How to Do Things With Dance: Performing Change in Postwar America," in which she takes a fresh view of modern dance in the 1950s, portraying dance as an agent of social change in the Cold War era.
