Join International Writing Program residents Gerður Kristný (Iceland) and Mujib Mehrdad (Afghanistan), along with current Iowa Writers’ Workshop MFA candidate Patrick Connelly, at Prairie Lights Bookstore & Café for a reading of their work.
Gerður is the widely awarded author of five poetry collections, two novels, nine books for children, a travelogue and one biography, whose work has been translated into 21 languages.
Mujib is the author of the poetry collections Gladiators are Still Dying, which won the Afghan Civil Society’s literature contest, The Fishes Have Fled our Veins. and Audience.
Patrick grew up in Marblehead, Massachusetts and was educated at the University of Michigan. He lives in Iowa City and is an MFA candidate at the Iowa Writers' Workshop, where he studies fiction.
