The University of Iowa’s Hancher will present the Chamber Music Society of Lincoln Center on Thursday, Oct. 16, at 7:30 p.m. at the Riverside Recital Hall in Iowa City (405 North Riverside Drive). Six musicians, including clarinetist David Shifrin, will perform a program entitled Autumnal Brahms.
Johannes Brahms composed two works for virtuoso clarinetist Richard Mühlfeld. Shifrin will perform Trio for clarinet, cello, and piano in A Minor, Op. 11 and Quintet for clarinet, two violins, viola, and cello in B Minor, Op. 115. The program also includes Sonata for violin and piano in D Minor, Op. 108; Intermezzo for piano in E-flat Major, Op. 117, No. 1; and Rhapsody for piano in E-flat Major, Op. 119, No. 4.
$35 for nonstudents, $31 for senior citizens, and $10 for college students and youth, are available from the Hancher Box Office. Located on the first floor of the south end of the Old Capitol Town Center near the parking ramp, the Hancher Box Office is open for phone (319-335-1160 or 800-HANCHER) or walk-up business from 10 a.m. to 5:30 p.m. weekdays. Tickets may be ordered online at the Hancher website. Any remaining tickets will be available for sale one hour before show time at Riverside Recital Hall.
