Officer training complements UI education

The University of Iowa Army ROTC provides individuals with the tools, training, and experiences they need to become officers in the U.S. Army. The curriculum challenges students who want to excel and get more out of the college experience.

The UI Military Science Program courses provide education in the military's role and instruction in leadership and management. The program's courses are an essential part of the Iowa ROTC program.

After graduation, those who complete the program are commissioned as second lieutenants and enter one of more than 140 career fields. Successful completion of Army ROTC increases opportunities in civilian life as well as in the military. Courses teach cadets skills they need to become a successful leader.

In addition, the University of Iowa offers programs in Aerospace Studiesfor students pursuing an education while working toward a commission as an officer in the U.S. Air Force.
