Friday, April 18, 2014

The University of Iowa’s premier touring repertory company, Dancers in Company, is in the midst of another successful tour throughout Iowa and the Midwest. Now in its 30th year, the troupe of UI graduate and undergraduate dancers kicked off the season with “home concerts” in Iowa City hitting the road to perform thrilling concerts and conduct outreach through lecture demonstrations for audiences of all ages.

Dancers in Company, led by UI dance faculty member Charlotte Adams, will conclude its 2014 tour with three free performances:

  • April 26, Dubuque Museum of Art, Dubuque, 1 p.m.
  • April 29, Indian Hills Community College, Ottumwa, 7:30 p.m.
  • April 30, Iowa Western Community College Art Center, Council Bluffs, 7:30 p.m.

Watch as Adams and two dancers from the troupe describe how their performances better themselves and the community around them.

Dancers in Company is part of Arts Share, which offers schools and communities around the state a variety of opportunities, including interactive performances, workshops, readings, residencies, and master classes. Nearly 100 faculty artists and graduate students from the UI School of Art and Art History, the Division of Performing Arts, and the Iowa Writers’ Workshop participate in Arts Share events.
