Lily Garcia, associate dean for education in the UI College of Dentistry, became the new chair of the American Dental Education Association (ADEA) Board of Directors during the 2014 ADEA annual meeting, which was held in San Antonio, Texas. Garcia’s responsibilities as chair will be to facilitate the goals of ADEA. She will also serve as presiding officer of the ADEA House of Delegates.
The mission of the American Dental Education Association, which is composed of American and Canadian dental schools, is to address issues related to education, research, and the delivery of oral health care to benefit the public.
The University of Iowa Women in Science and Engineering program has announced award recipients of its Dr. Eunice Schuytema Beam Travel Grant Program.
The Beam Travel Grant spring semester award winners, each of whom will receive $300 toward travel to a professional meeting to present scholarly work, are:
Krysti Knoche of Colorado Springs, Colo., an analytical chemistry/electrochemistry doctoral student in the Graduate College, will deliver an oral presentation May 13 at the 225th Electrochemical Society Meeting in Orlando, Fla.
Wenjing Lu of Huai'an city, Jiangsu Province, China, a biostatistics doctoral student in the College of Public Health, delivered an oral presentation, March 17 at the International Biometric Society Eastern North American Region 2014 Spring Meeting in Baltimore, Md.
Jaime Peterson of Hinsdale, Ill., an educational measurement and statistics doctoral student in the College of Education, will deliver an oral presentation April 6 at the Annual Meeting of the American Educational Research Association in Philadelphia, Pa.
Adele Stewart of Dixon, Ill., a pharmacology doctoral student in the Graduate College, will deliver an oral presentation, April 30 at the Experimental Biology 2014 in San Diego, Calif.
