Spring weather may not have heated up quite as early this year, but soon the University of Iowa campus will be caliente thanks to Gusto Latino.

The annual Latin dance event Gusto Latino will return to the UI Friday, April 19, for a night of dance lessons, live music by Salsa Vibe, and food. Doors open at 7:30 p.m. at Old Brick, 26 E. Market St., Iowa City, and admission is $5 for adults and free for students and children.

Salsa Vibe is a collaboration of some of central Iowa’s finest musicians determined to see live salsa grow in Iowa. Up to 12 musicians strong, Salsa Vibe explores the vast array of Latin rhythms and musical styles from South America, the Caribbean, and New York City.

Gusto Latino has been an annual event at the UI for more than two decades. It brings together a wide range of students and community members of diverse backgrounds to interact through music and dance.

Sponsors for this event include UI International Programs, the Office of Residence Life, University Housing and Dining, the Center for Student Involvement and Leadership, and the Coca-Cola Support Program.

Individuals with disabilities are encouraged to attend all UI-sponsored events. If you are a person with a disability who requires a reasonable accommodation in order to participate in this program, contact Amy Baumgartner in advance at amy-baumgartner@uiowa.edu.
