More than $100,000 for McKercher scholarship fund

A gift of more than $100,000 to the University of Iowa Foundation will benefit students in the UI College of Engineering.

John McKercher of Hudson, Wis., made the gift. It will be added to the John and Marylyn McKercher Engineering Scholarship Fund, which John McKercher originally created in 1998. The scholarship will be awarded annually to one or more qualifying engineering students.

John McKercher graduated from the UI in 1958 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in general science and a Bachelor of Science degree in electrical engineering, and joined Sundstrand Corporation. He served in various assignments and ended his career as vice president of operations for Sauer-Danfoss in Ames, Iowa.
