Shooting reported near Melrose, Mormon Trek
Update (June 22, 10 AM): Iowa City Police have released additional information about the shooting, the victim, and the ongoing investigation. They report that the area has been thoroughly searched, and that they no longer believe Iowa City's general population is at any increased risk of danger.
Update (June 22, 8:30 AM): Iowa City Police report that one person was killed in last night's shooting. They and other law enforcement agencies continue to investigate the incident. Read the Iowa City Police statement.
Update (1:57 AM): Iowa City Police continue to search for the suspect in the shooting.
University of Iowa Police issued a Hawk Alert in response to a late-night incident that occurred off campus:
Text of Hawk Alert message, June 22, 12:06 AM: Shooting reported in the area of Melrose and Mormon Trek. Police are looking for an armed suspect. If you are in the area, remain indoors. Don't confront suspect. Call 911 only if you have info or an emergency.
