The University of Minnesota New Music Ensemble will present a free concert at 2 p.m. Sunday, May 6, in the Riverside Recital Hall. A guest of the University of Iowa Center for New Music, the ensemble will perform under the direction of Young-Nam Kim and Jerry Luckhardt.

The program will include Concertino for Violin and Chamber Winds by Peter Child, which juxtaposes a lean instrumentation of ten players in a cheerful, out-of-the-doors Classicism; Second String Quartet by Bela Bartok, one of the most expressive, romantically beautiful of Bartok's works; and Fantasie per Sei by Stanislaw Skrowaczewski, which represents one of the most important and engaging chamber works of Skrowaczewski.

The ensemble includes Bacco Te-Chiang Liu, Kai-Li-Cheng, and Hsuan-Wen Lin on violin; Andrea Myers on flute; Hanna Pahr and Colton Cox on oboe; Lindsay Cox on clarinet; Grace Ryan on bassoon; Claire Volna on horn; Cameron Kinghorn on trumpet; Brandon McQuiad on trombone; Breyen Coffin on bass; Branden Steinmetz on percussion; Emily Hagen on viola; Rox Mendoza on cello; and Banchinda Laothai on piano.
