Cellist Chang, violist Tábora to perform free concert May 5

Cellist Yoo-Jung Chang and violist Manuel Táborawill present a free concert through the University of Iowa Center for New Music. Titled "Duo Yin Yang, The Music of Here and Now: Viola-Cello Duos by UI Composers," the concert takes place at 8 p.m. Saturday, May 5, in the University Capitol Centre Recital Hall.

Chang earned her Graduate Professional Diploma at the Hartt School and Master of Arts Degree at the UI. She is currently on faculty as applied cello instructor at Grinnell College. Tábora holds a Bachelor's Degree in Music Performance from Washburn University and has recently begun graduate work at the UI. He is also working on a minor in Music Theory Pedagogy, and plans to graduate with a Master of Fine Arts degree in the Spring of 2014.

The program will include Duo for Viola and Violoncello by Walter Piston, ghlitby Daniel Frantz, birth pang by Jason Palamara, Wildwood Dancing by Stephanie Pieczynski, A Modal Thing by Will Huff, and Walls of Justice, Painted Green by Zach Zubow. Frantz, Palamara, Pieczynski, Huff, and Zubow are all UI graduate students studying composition.

The Center for New Music is a part of the School of Music in the UI College of Liberal Arts and Sciences.
