Those wanting to experience a diverse array of fashion and tastes need look no further than the University of Iowa campus this weekend. And best of all? You don't need to purchase a plane ticket.
University of Iowa students, faculty, staff, and the general public are invited to Walk It Out, a multicultural fashion show that will tout both domestic and international diversity. The event will be Saturday, April 7, in the Iowa Memorial Union Main Lounge. Cultural appetizers will be served starting at 6:30 p.m., and the show starts at 8 p.m.
Admission and appetizers are free, and there will be free gift bags for those attending.
Walk It Out is a student organization on campus that showcases various cultures through its annual fashion show.
The event is a collaboration of more than 15 student organizations to promote and celebrate the unique cultures on the UI campus.
The cultures and regions representing include Hip-Hop, East Asian, LGBTQ, South Asian, Middle Eastern, African, and Latin American.
This year, Walk It Out has partnered with the University Hospitals and Clinics HIV/AIDS Program. According to organizers, everyone working together will promote awareness and education on campus.
Donations toward the HIV/AIDS Program will be accepted at the door.
The UI Indian Student Alliance, the Black Student Union, the Asian American Coalition, and Walk It Out are the co-sponsors for the event, with involvement from UI Student Government.
