Live literary streams April 24-29 on writinguniversity.org will feature two Poetry Month events and the book launch of a former University of Iowa engineering student whose comments to the Iowa Legislature made him an instant celebrity:
—Poet Amanda Nadelberg at 7 p.m. Tuesday, April 24.
—Two Salt Modern Poets, Catherine Theis and Rebecca Lehmann, at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 26.
—Same-gender-marriage activist Zach Wahls at 2 p.m. Saturday, April 28.

Each of the live streams will originate in a free event in Prairie Lights Books, 15 S. Dubuque St. in downtown Iowa City.

Nadelberg, an alumna of the Iowa Writers’ Workshop, is the author of Isa the Truck Named Isadore, winner of the 2005 Slope Editions Book Prize, and a chapbook, Building Castles in Spain, Getting Married. Her new collection is Bright Brave Phenomena.

Catherine Theis, also a workshop alumna, will read from her debut, The Fraud of Good Sleep. Her poems have appeared in Fence, Gulf Coast, LIT, Volt, and many other journals. She will be joined by Lehmann, author of Between the Crackups and poems published in the Iowa Review, Tin House, the Denver Quarterly, the Indiana Review, and the Columbia Poetry Review.

A video of Wahls' speech arguing in support of same-gender marriage and in defense of his upbringing by two women went viral on the Internet last year, attracting more than two million views. His reading will help launch his new book, My Two Moms: Lessons of Love, Strength and What Makes a Family.
