Jazz Repertory Ensemble salutes big names in big band

The Jazz Repertory Ensemble (JRE) of the University of Iowa School of Music will celebrate the work of three major big-band composer/arrangers with two upcoming concerts at the Mill in downtown Iowa City.

The shows will be held at 7 p.m., Thursday, April 19, and at 6 p.m., Thursday, May 3. The latter event will be broadcast on KCCK–88.3FM.

Both events will feature the works of Gil Evans, Thad Jones, and Bob Brookmeyer. Brookmeyer was honored with a posthumous Grammy nomination in last year's awards.
